WORD Reflection July 30, 2023

We only value that which we acquired after much suffering.

WORD

"When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it."

OBSERVE

The merchant, when he found what he was looking for, he sold his possessions so as to acquire what he wanted.

We give value to things, events, or persons when we achieve it after a lot of suffering or difficulties.

We take things for granted when it is so common or cheap.

This is reflected when Jesus said that the road to hell is wide while the road to heaven is narrow.

RESPOND

Lord, let me know that you are our only good.

To be with you is true happiness and joy

May we find our "pearl of great price"

and give us the grace to let go everything

so as to be with you. AMEN

DISCERN

De-clutter your mind from the many conflicting desires we have by meditation or reflection every day.

Focus on your goal, and do not lose sight of the most essential in your life.
