WORD Reflection August 13, 2023

Jesus prayed so we pray. Whenever life's tribulations assault us, it is in prayer that we find refuge.

WORD

"After doing so, he went up the mountain alone to pray."

OBSERVE

One of the most distinctive events in the life of Jesus is that he is always in prayer. He was praying when he performed miracles, he was in prayer when he was resting from his preaching, he was in prayer in the garden before he was arrested, he was praying when he was hanging on the cross.

Jesus is intimately united with the heavenly Father whenever he is in prayer.

By praying, we find courage to face life's problems. In prayer, we connect with God and find refuge in him when difficulties storm us.

REFLECT

Heavenly Father, give us the grace to pray.

Make me realize that in prayer I am growing closer with you.

Let me not desire the fruits of prayer

but allow me to desire prayer for its own sake.

May I find peace and rest in prayer.

Amen.

Make it a point that you will pray during this week. You may want to do it in the morning and/or evening.

Spend some time in silence and be immersed in the presence of God.
