The Blessing That Was 2020 (Day 6)

Gift # 6 The Gift of Uncertainty

It was like a guessing game during the national lock-down, every time we wait for what would be the quarantine level for the next two weeks.

Then, the same cycle will be repeated for the next months to follow.Every day, I would open my social media account with anticipation of the next two weeks’ status.

More so, social media was awash with news of infections and deaths.

Every time there is news of infections of prominent people, I am jolted with a feeling of anxiety and fear, although it would last for just a few moments.

When there were cases in various subdivisions around my chaplaincy, the fear became real.

This pandemic has brought us the daily reminder of our frailty and mortality.

However, this is also a reminder that everything is in the hands of God; whatever happens, it is within the permissive will of God.

I think this is something which we have taken for granted. When everything was fine, we felt that we are in charge that we are in control. God is just there, somewhere that we can call when we need him.

With the uncertainty brought by the pandemic, we are reminded again that we are not in control.

God is.
