Is There No Prophet In The Land?

Prophets in the Old Testaments are people from various walks of life. Some of them are priests, pottery makers, shepherds, and farmers.
When the Lord called them to prophesy, some of them were hesitant, others doubtful, others reluctant, and others passive-aggressive like Jonah.
The young Jeremiah said he was too young while Moses has a stutter, how can they face and speak to the powers of their time?
I think this is where the words of Jesus are apt when he said that his disciples should not be afraid of what to speak because it is the Holy Spirit who will speak through them.
There is no need to study or become specialized when it comes to prophesying; because the Holy Spirit will speak through them.
Is there no prophet in the land?
During the time of Amos, when there is so much injustice happening in the land of Israel, there was no prophet there to call the rulers to accountability.
At that time when there was no prophet in Israel that the people realized what the Lord said, “See, the days are coming when I will send a famine upon the land: not a hunger for bread, or a thirst for water but for hearing the word of God” (Amos 8:11).
Were there no prophets in the land of Israel?
No, there were some “prophets,” but they did not speak what they ought to say. Instead, they spoke words that whitewashed the faults of the rulers.
Prophets were supposed to call the rulers to repentance.
These “prophets” (if you can call them such) announced peace, spoke platitudes, and tolerated evil to flourish because they were silent or they praised when it was time to condemn.
Instead of prophets, what the people of God got were managers and diplomats.
Thus says the Lord regarding the prophets:
“O you who lead my people astray
When your teeth have something to bite
You announce peace.
But proclaim war against the one
Who fails to put something in your mouth.
Therefore you shall have night, not vision
Darkness, not divination;
The sun shall go down upon the prophets
And the day shall be dark for them” (Micah 3:5-6).
While the “prophets” were either silent or spoke false prophecies, the people suffered because there is no one to defend them or speak for them.
In the land where there is no prophet…
“A conspiracy of its princes is like a roaring lion tearing prey:
they devour people, seizing their wealth and precious things, making many widows within her.
Within her, her officials are like wolves tearing prey, shedding blood and destroying lives to extort profit.
And her prophets cover them with whitewash, seeing false visions and performing lying divinations,
saying, “Thus says the Lord God,”although the Lord has not spoken (Ezekiel 22 :25, 27, 28)
Is there no prophet in our land?
“We have seen no signs for us, there is no prophet anymore, no one among us who knows for how long” (Psalm74: 9)
