A Light Burden

Jesus invites us to come to him, not to unburden our load, but to exchange it for his load.

WORD

"For my yoke is easy, and my burden light."

OBSERVE

No one is truly free from the burdens of this life.

Sometimes, we think that the rich and the powerful are the most fortunate people on earth because they can have whatever they want.

But, surely we are mistaken.

They also have a share in life's burdens. Otherwise, we would not have heard news about suicide, marital infidelities, drug abuse, and financial woes among the rich and the powerful.

Basi gani mas dako pa kag mas malala ang ila problema sang sa aton.

Everyone has a burden to carry.

The question is, whose burden are we carrying? The burden imposed by the World or that of the Lord?

The burden of the World is heavy because it is a cruel master.

The burden the Lord gives is the cross that every disciple will carry. But it is light because Jesus will carry it with us. This cross will us to the day of the resurrection.

RESPOND

Lord, you give burdens in this life

so that we can bring you greater glory

because every cross ends in joy.

Protect us from evil ones,

Strengthen our hearts

and make us zealous in doing your will.

Amen.

DISCERN

Whose burden are you carrying?

Is it the burden that the world gives?

Or the cross that Jesus commands each of his disciples to bear?

For this week, be aware of how we are burdened by the many problems

that we face.

How is Jesus making your burden light?

Good morning. Struggles, problems and pains I believe are spices of life which makes me hold on to the faithfulness of our Lord, and I always claim victory in the name of Jesus.
